My teeth hurt! help!?
You are having hypersensitivity due to dehydration during the bleaching process. Your dentin tubuals (which are like tiny nerve sensors that send messages to the pulp or nerve in the tooth) are being opened and dried out, when you use the bleaching solution allowing more of air, liquid, hot or cold or anything else to be transmitted to the nerve of the teeth a lot faster. It's a common effect in the bleaching process.

If you are doing your bleaching with an over the counter material, I would suggest you read the directions again and make sure you followed them correctly as for the length of time to keep the solution on the teeth. I wouldn't advise bleaching again for a day or two and maybe not quiet as long as suggested and see if you get less painful results.

If you are doing this procedure with custom trays and solution that your dentist provided, that involves bleaching everyday for a few weeks, contact him/her for advice. They will tell you not to bleach again for a day or so and let the teeth settle down, then resume with bleaching, but reduce the length of time wearing the trays or possibly even skip a day. Some doctors are known to prescribe pain med's to help ease the sensitivity.

If you had the one hour bleaching process at your dentist office, you should contact them immediately. The doctor will probably want to see you and do a floride treatment to seal the tubuals, and also prescribe something for pain.

In any case, you should avoid further stimulation of the nerve. Try not to eat or drink anything hot/cold for the next day or two. Try to keep your lips together so air doesn't rush across your teeth. Brush with a floride toothpaste, such as sensodyne and with warm water letting your toothbrush warm up before you use it. You can also take Motrin or Advil at a 600mg dose for pain. Hope I was of some help, and good luck with your bleaching. You'll forget all about the pain when you start to see the whiter and brighter results!
Reply:An old family remedie of mine includes taking a large hammer and just knocking them out one by one....It will hirt initially but the pain will go away a few days from now...Teeth will never hurt again, I promise.
Reply:Go get some Sensodyne toothpaste. That will take the pain away.
Reply:your best remedy is try some sensodyne toothpaste
