My teeth hurt when I drink soda. Why?

My back/bottom two teeth hurt when I drink any type of soda (diet or regular). I went to the Dentist about a month ago and came back cavity free. I've never had a cavity before. These two teeth hurt regardless of the temperature of the soda and do not hurt when I drink juice or water. I have some tooth sensitivity on my two bottom front teeth, but that is only to cold and doesn't hurt with soda. I am not due back at the Dentist for 5 months and would really like to avoid having to go back early - any thoughts as to the source of this pain?

You could have a fracture or, have worn down the enamel on your teeth from the acid created by or contained in soda (www.wda.org "sip all day, get decay" has some incredible information--both diet and regular sodas damage the teeth). Try a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and begin using a flouride rinse. Flouride can actually help rebuild/strengthen the enamel to some extent, if that's the cause.
Reply:sounds like it is all mental. i bet if you look deep down, it hurts too when you drink other things too. u just have sensitive teeth. use a sensitive toothpaste for a while see if that helps..stop drinking soda, its bad for you anyways..diet or not
Reply:I was going to tell you it's probably the sugar in the pop that's doing it, until I read it happens with diet pop too.

That's strange. I don't really know. Maybe it's the carbonation?
Reply:sensitive teeth use sensodyne
Reply:Soda creates the tiniest pin holes all over your teeth. It increases the sensitive of your teeth and weaken the enamel.
Reply:CARBONATION.

All the bubbles make your teeth feel like they are disolving, or they are going to fall out!

I don't drink soda because I feel the same way.
Reply:Mine buddy here says that you might have a cavite. When you have cavites, the tooth that is rotten can get sensetive.(Sry if I spelled 'cavite wrong).
Reply:no matter whether soda is diet or not - it's SO acidic that it's wearing down your enamel. all soda does this. try the bologna experiment... it will all eat holes through bologna if left for a while.

drink it through a straw if you MUST have it - then rinse your mouth with water after. also- use a flouride gel after brushing to help reduce the sensitivity.
