Do wisdom teeth always hurt when they're first coming in?

I think I'm growing wisdom teeth, because in the area that they should be in, there's like a red spot, as if you poked yourself with a needle and drew blood, if you know what I'm talking about. It really hurts, and I just want to know does it hurt for everyone when they grow in? And how long will the pain last? Also, how can I stop it from hurting?

Do wisdom teeth always hurt when they're first coming in?
Yup, you got it. It hurts when teeth come in, that's why babies cry when they're teething! Your gums will get bright, fire-red and sore, and may swell, as the teeth try to come through. It should only last for a day or so, since most teeth erupt a little at a time.

Go see your dentist to make sure you don't need to get them removed. Wisdom teeth often cause a lot of problems!
Reply:They are pain full as they have to break the surface. You should consult a Dentist to make sure your body can accommodate them. Many times your mouth may be too small, they could be impacted (in the bone) or coming in crooked. You may also experience the unpleasant taste of metal in your mouth (why who knows). Over the counter pain medication should relieve the pain.
Reply:Wisdom teeth always hurts as the tooth needs to pierce the well grown cheek flesh to pop out.

The time of hurting will vary between 4 to 7 days. In the meantime, you should visit your dentist, who will prescribe the drugs in order to (1) Reduce pain (2) make the flesh soft (3) ensure growth of tooth is quicker (4) counter infection (using antibiotics, just in case, the flesh is inflammated).
Reply:some advil and orajel will help, and yes It hurt for me too....at least its only four teeth coming in for us, how do you think babies feel with a full mouth of teeth coming in? oh the pain will probably stop after the teeth cut the gum.
Reply:yes it does because its pushing its way trying to come out from beneath the gum
Reply:Often they do. Why they are called 'wisdom teeth', I don't know. They are usually extra teeth that you do not need and your mouth can hardly handle because of the limited space. That's why they are often impacted - cramped into a very small space.

See or talk to a dental professional because you should not be experiencing the pain that you are describing.

Use Ambesol. There are Q-tip sort of things with this medication on them that you can clamp down on between your lower and upper jaw. You can find them at any drug store, Wal-Mart etc.

If you can't get to that right now, clamp down on an aspirin in the afflicted area. It has a slower but longer affect.

I'm sorry for your pain. I truly hope I helped.
Reply:Usually they do when they break through the gum, though pain is pretty rare and usually a sign of maybe something isn't coming in right. You should probably visit your dentist or orthodontist to see if they are coming in properly and if you have enough room for them. Personally I had both problems, not enough room and coming in sideways so I constantly biting my cheek therefore I had some pain, and then i had all 4 removed. the biggest thing I can say is to visit the dentist.
Reply:I never noticed mine come through. I have very straight white teeth and never have problems with them.
