Does it hurt really bad to get your wisdom teeth taken out???

I might have to have mine removed. Is there a lot of swelling? I've had a tooth pulled before, i was put to sleep, and it didn't hurt much...will having the wisdom teeth pulled hurt?

Does it hurt really bad to get your wisdom teeth taken out???
NO!!!!!!!

Its fine!!

YOu have choice to either

1. Put to sleep (best way please do this!!)

2. Be sedated (half awake)

3. Frozen with needles (why feel the pain go to sleep!)

When you wake up you feel it a bit but its not that bad. You will feel it the next 2 days and be SWOLLEN liek a chipmunk sometimes.

But it goes away its not bad,
Reply:not really if you have anesthesia
Reply:idk.. ive seen my friend get a few pulled and her cheeks were swollen for a little bit.

my ortho said i need mine taken out so i wanna know too!
Reply:Yes. It's a big surgical procedure to have your wisdom teeth pulled out and you're put under.

Give yourself at least a week for recovery from the swelling.

Hang in there. It may not be easy but you'll get through this.
Reply:No. I got mine out last week and it was slightly uncomfortable, but the pain itself was minimal. just be sure to listen to your dentist's instructions about cleaning the area to prevent dry socket which can be extremely painful.
Reply:It matters how high your tolerance for pain is. There shouldn't be much swelling. I had all four of mine pulled and the only one that gave me problems, was the one that rooted itself into my jaw bone. It took the dentist three hours to get it out! Good luck!
Reply:no, just a little sore afterwards.

You won't feel the procedure since you will most likely be put to sleep and the pain afterwards is just a mildly moderate sore feeling. They will most likely give you a painkiller afterwards like vicodin or something like that but I didn't use it when I got my wisdom teeth taken out.

Overall, it is really not that bad.
Reply:I hope not! I'm 15 and at my last dentist appointment, I was told I'll have to have my wisdom tooth pulled. I'm a little nervous, I remember when my mom got her's pulled. Her cheeks we swollen and she vomited a lot (I have no idea why)!!!
Reply:Depends on the person. I didnt have any swelling but it was sore a few days ,but my sister on the other hand had very bad swelling.
Reply:I had my taken out a few years ago. They numbed the area and worked on it so it didn't hurt. I guess the worst part was being able to watch and hear some of what was going on since I wasn't put out. It wasn't too bad though and I got them all out at the same time. Afterwards, my face was swollen for about a good week and was sensitive. It didn't hurt too bad and I didn't even really need to take any pain medication afterwards. The only think that sucked was eatting because I couldn't open my mouth the whole way.
Reply:It would depend on how many problems you've had with them. Almost everyone has them removed. I would suggest getting it done ASAP. Don't wait til you have bigger problems. It's surgery. There are natural problems with any surgery, but waiting could result in much more pain. Have it done on Friday so you can recoup over the weekend. Good luck.
Reply:Some soreness after the anesthesia wears off, but not bad.

They will usually give you pain medication to take as needed and recommend you to use ice for the swelling.

I had all four removed at once when I was 19. I just remember afterwards only being able to eat soft foods/liquids for a while. By the end of the week, I didn't even want to look at any more soup or pasta!!
Reply:I had to have mine surgically removed because they were so badly impacted, and honestly it hurt worse having them in than it did having them out! I slept the rest of the first day, and the next day I went to the mall and had my nails done, I was just a little uncomfortable. Just the most important thing is make sure you do your warm salt rinse!! It breaks down the food that gets stuck in the sockets, and not only makes your breath better, but then you don't have your dentist/ surgeon digging in there to clean the food out..it tastes gross but is oh so worth it!!
