The mouth-guard may need some adjusting. If this was made at your dental office, just ask them when it will be convenient for you to come in for an adjustment.

If it's one you made, then you will need to try again.

Either the material distorted by either not leaving it in your mouth long enough to set, not getting a good bite initially or maybe the material didn't heat properly. Sometimes it's the slightest variances in temperature, material, even humidity can cause distortion.

Do not continue to wear this if it causes your teeth to hurt; that is an indication that the guard is applying too much pressure on an area and can cause shifting of your teeth to occur.

The best night guards, that are effective in controlling grinding and that offer the greatest comfort are the one that your dentist can fabricate for you made from an exact replica of your teeth and tissue.

The teeth will hurt when a force is applied, the mouth guard was pushing them out of their normal position; such as orthodontic treatment does.
